Frequently asked questions
What is BlinkFix?
BlinkFix is a marketplace app for food and everyday shopping. In one app you can order from restaurants, food trucks and home cooks, buy products from local shops, browse and save recipes, split a bill with friends, and manage dine-in orders if you work at a place on BlinkFix.
Can I get delivery, or only pickup?
That depends on the place you are ordering from — each restaurant, shop or food truck sets its own delivery and pickup options. If a place only offers pickup, the delivery option simply will not be shown for it. Always check the delivery/pickup toggle on the checkout screen before placing your order.
Why can’t I order from a certain place?
You can always add items to your basket, but a place can stop taking orders for a while — then you’ll see “Not taking orders right now” and can check out once it’s back. To take card payments, a place also has to finish setting up its payouts with our payment provider; until then (“No card payments yet”) you can only pay in cash at the place, if it accepts cash. In the meantime, you can choose another place nearby.
How do I pay, and is my card information safe?
You pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, handled by Stripe, one of the most widely used payment processors in the world. BlinkFix never sees or stores your full card number — Stripe processes the charge and only shares the details we need to confirm and fulfil your order. Every order has a BlinkFix service fee, the same however you pay, shown as “Service fee” in your basket before you pay. Where a place accepts it, you can also pay at the place, in cash or on its own card terminal; the service fee is part of what you pay there, and the place collects it for BlinkFix.
Can I split the bill with friends?
Yes. From an order you can start a split payment and invite friends to each cover their share. Everyone pays their own part through the app, and you can track who has paid from the split payment screen.
Can I tip, and who actually gets the tip?
Yes — once your order is complete, you can leave a tip from your order. It goes to the people who worked on it (like the chef, your waiter or the delivery driver), not to the place. You pay exactly the tip you choose: BlinkFix’s fee is taken out of the tip, not added on top. Tips are paid out seven days after the order, once no refund is possible.
How do favourites and ratings work?
Tap the heart icon on any dish, shop product or place to save it to your Favourites, where you can find it again quickly. Once an order is complete, you can rate your experience — overall, the food and the service or delivery — and add a comment. Ratings help other customers choose, and help places see what’s working.
What are recipes, and can I order the ingredients?
The Recipes section lets you browse recipes shared by the community, save your own, and share them with friends. From a recipe you can add its ingredients straight to a shopping list and buy them from a shop on BlinkFix, instead of writing the list out by hand.
I run a restaurant, shop, food truck or cook from home — can I sell on BlinkFix?
Yes. Add your place in Work, then add your menu or product list. Each place has its own monthly plan, and the first 14 days are free — cancel anytime. To take card payments you also complete a short payout setup with Stripe, our payment provider; until then customers can only pay in cash at your place, if you accept cash. BlinkFix takes a commission on each order, as set out in the Merchant Terms.
What is the Student plan?
The Student plan gives a student one Local Cook place with no monthly plan fee. We check student status automatically: in your profile, you confirm your university email with a 6-digit code and add a photo of your student card. Once you’re verified, the place is free straight away. Student status is valid until 30 November and is checked again every November — from 1 November you verify again the same way, and we remind you on 1, 15 and 25 November; if you don’t, the place moves to the normal paid plan. It’s limited to pickup orders and one confirmed staff member, and you can move to a full plan at any time.
Something is wrong with my order — what can I do?
Open the order and use “Report a problem” (in the app: “Dispute this order”) within 48 hours of collection or delivery. Choose what went wrong and add photos if you have them — the place is asked to reply, and our team reviews every case. The resolution can be a full or partial refund, back to the card you paid with (usually within 5–10 working days). If the place cancels or can’t fulfil your order, you get a full refund, including the service fee.
How do I change the app language?
In the app, open the Me tab and choose Language — the change applies straight away. On the website, use the language and currency button in the header, or “Language and currency” in the avatar menu once you are signed in; light and dark are in the avatar menu too. BlinkFix is available in 27 languages.
I need help with something else — how do I reach you?
Use the contact form on this page to send us a message. We’ll get back to you at the email address on your account.
Does BlinkFix issue a fiscal receipt for my order?
No — the establishment is the seller, so it issues the fiscal receipt its country requires, on its own till or through the fiscal connection it set up in BlinkFix. The receipt BlinkFix gives you (in your order details, to print or download) confirms what you paid; it is not a fiscal receipt. Where the establishment issued its fiscal receipt through BlinkFix and its country allows electronic fiscal receipts, you see it, or its number, on your order. If you run an establishment, blinkfix.me/help/receipt-rules explains what your country asks of you.
